Tetsu Kariya and Akira Hanasaki's legendary culinary manga Oishinbo is making an unexpected and triumphant return to television. Thirty-five years after the conclusion of the original anime adaptation, a brand-new series titled Shin Oishinbo has been officially announced for a 2027 premiere, produced by Shin-Ei Animation.
The announcement arrived alongside a striking teaser visual depicting protagonist Shiro Yamaoka from behind, capturing his characteristic nonchalant posture as he prepares to resume his epic culinary journey. The series will continue the legendary gastronomic conflict between the Tozai Newspaper's Ultimate Menu and the Supreme Menu led by the formidable Kaibara Yuzan, preserving the vibrant energy of the 1990s while expanding its rich dramatic narrative.
Star-Studded Cast & Creative Vision
Stepping into the iconic roles for this modern continuation is a powerhouse cast of voice actors. Youhei Azakami will voice the cynical yet profoundly knowledgeable culinary journalist Shiro Yamaoka. Hitomi Sasaki takes on the role of his sharp-witted colleague and romantic foil Yuko Kurita, while veteran Akio Ohtsuka commands the screen as the imposing gourmet patriarch, Kaibara Yuzan.
Behind the scenes, the series is steered by director Kenichi Nishida, with series composition by Takahiro Nagano and character designs by Nozomi Kawashige.
