The latest sales data tracking the Japanese video game market from September 7 to September 13 highlights continued momentum for major studio flagships, with Nintendo and CAPCOM holding commanding positions across current hardware generations. Famitsu's weekly hardware and software charts reveal steady audience engagement for both long-running franchises and recent seasonal releases.
At the pinnacle of the software rankings, Nintendo secured the top spot with Rhythm Heaven Groove for the Nintendo Switch, adding 24,756 weekly units to push its cumulative lifetime sales past the major milestone of one million copies. Meanwhile, CAPCOM sustained an impressive presence with Onimusha: Way of the Sword, capturing the second position on PlayStation 5 with 19,654 copies sold during its second week on shelves, alongside a notable performance from its Nintendo platform iterations.
New releases also made their presence felt during the mid-September tracking window. D3 Publisher's Gakkō de Atta Kowai Hanashi to Tsukikomori debuted strongly on the Nintendo Switch at number six with 3,683 units, while Koei Tecmo saw successful dual-platform entries for Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV with Power-Up Kit Complete Edition on both Nintendo and Sony hardware.
