At the "NARUTO: What's Next?" panel during New York Comic Con, Bandai and franchise stakeholders unveiled Project Rasengan, a multi-year expansion initiative designed to chart the long-term future of Naruto and Boruto across anime, manga, gaming, and physical media.
Global Mobile Launch & Trading Card Game
A flagship highlight of the presentation is the upcoming global release of Naruto Mobile, a title previously restricted to Mainland China since its initial 2016 launch. Further details regarding the global rollout are scheduled for reveal during Jump Festa '27 in December. Alongside the mobile expansion, Bandai formally announced the Naruto Card Game, a brand-new trading card experience slating its official launch for June 2027. Legendary animation outfit Studio Pierrot produced an animated promotional trailer specifically for the card game's debut.
The card game launch strategy features localized demo events at select retailers running from February through March 2027, preceding the full summer release with starter decks focused on Naruto, Sasuke, and Gaara. Bandai previously managed the original Naruto Collectible Card Game between 2006 and 2013, making this new iteration a fresh tactical restart for the franchise in the tabletop scene.
Roadmap 2027–2029
Project Rasengan also provided a strategic roadmap spanning 2027 through 2029, teasing eight distinct projects across different media pillars. Among the first phase entries are the upcoming crossover anime with Ninku, the June 2027 trading card game launch, the worldwide release of Naruto Mobile, and a highly anticipated new manga project from series creator Masashi Kishimoto.
