During her visit to the Philippines for Cosplay Mania 2026 and the Japanese Anime Music (JAM) Concert, legendary anisong artist and Mobile Suit Gundam icon Nami Tamaki sat down for an exclusive discussion. Best known for her high-energy J-Pop anthems that defined an entire era of anime music, Tamaki shared insights into her creative process, her ongoing Starbound Tour, and the enduring legacy of her work.
Reflecting on her hobbies outside of music, Tamaki revealed that her creative output is fueled by riding motorcycles, gaming, drawing, and exploring museums. When asked about performing her classic tracks—such as Mobile Suit Gundam SEED themes “Believe,” “Reason,” and “Realize,” alongside D.Gray-man's “Brightdown”—she expressed immense gratitude for the overwhelming passion of international fans.
I was so happy because everyone sang along in Japanese so loud that I thought it would make the venue blow up. It makes me incredibly happy to feel that over the years people have continued to love the songs that mean so much to me.
