Mangaka Akaza Samamiya has officially confirmed via social media that the ongoing side story Mr. Mallow Blue: After The Rain is approaching its final chapter. The original narrative of Mr. Mallow Blue explored the delicate, intersecting lives of social outcasts, including a fragile young protagonist, a reclusive shut-in, and a stoic figure hiding behind an emotionally detached exterior.
Samamiya launched the primary serialization in Kadokawa's Asuka magazine back in November 2019, concluding the main six-volume run in late 2024. Shortly after, the spin-off series After The Rain debuted in the magazine's March issue earlier this year, continuing the atmospheric exploration of interpersonal healing under Kadokawa's shojo and josei imprint.
Alongside Mr. Mallow Blue, Samamiya's notable bibliography includes Ballad x Opera and the supernatural hit Bloody Mary, which ran in Asuka from 2013 to 2017 and received a complete English language release through Viz Media. The conclusion of this side story marks the final curtain call for Samamiya's recent contemplative dramatic era.
