MIXI’s flagship mobile action RPG Monster Strike is expanding its animated universe once again with a newly unveiled television project. Formally titled Mera x Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijou na Koi (Mera x Death: The Grim Reaper and My Abnormal Love), the series is slated to premiere on January 5, 2027, across TOKYO MX and ten terrestrial broadcasting networks.
First teased in July 2026, the project pivots into a surprisingly dark boy-meets-girl mystery. The plot centers on an ordinary youth named Mera whose mundane life is disrupted when an angelic girl named Thirteen approaches him for a date. The freshly released promotional video highlights this sweet romance before abruptly shifting into psychological tension as Thirteen mutters chilling threats of murder against a backdrop of glowing celestial phenomena.
Animation production is handled jointly by Qzil.la and studio keel under the direction of Kenta Kushiya, with veteran director Takao Kato serving as creative advisor. Character designs are spearheaded by Tadashi Sakazaki, while Daisuke Daito manages series composition and scripting. The score is composed by a team led by Masaru Yokoyama (Your Lie in April, Fate/Apocrypha) alongside Kana Hashiguchi and Natsuki Hamada.
