The descent into the underworld continues as the theatrical project Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi prepares for its October 23 premiere. To commemorate the impending theatrical release, official channels have unleashed a second haunting key visual alongside confirmation that a brand-new sequel is already officially in production within the franchise pipeline.
Alongside the visual update, the production committee pulled back the curtain on additional voice actors joining the sprawling dark fantasy epic. Notable additions to the roster include Nana Mizuki as Srajo, Akeno Watanabe as Nishagora, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Yataramar, Nao Toyama as Sherumi, and Yume Miyamoto as Menae, rounding out the ensemble for the cinematic continuation.
This theatrical series acts as a direct continuation of Akihito Tsukushi’s acclaimed manga adaptation lineage, following the groundbreaking 2017 television series, the 2020 theatrical feature Dawn of the Deep Soul, and the grueling 2022 second season subtitled The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. Animation production remains anchored at Kinema Citrus, steered by veteran director Masayuki Kojima and composer Kevin Penkin, ensuring the continuation of the signature atmospheric dread and acoustic mastery that defines the franchise.
