Big West used its panel at this year's New York Comic Con to confirm major physical media news for science fiction anime enthusiasts. The company announced that the acclaimed Macross Frontier television series will receive a comprehensive Deluxe Edition Blu-ray release scheduled for the early second quarter of 2027.
International collectors can look forward to pre-orders opening this December. GKIDS will handle distribution in the United States, while Anime Limited (All the Anime) will manage releases across the United Kingdom. This follows previous catalog announcements regarding the Macross Delta anime Blu-ray rollout.
Global Franchise Integration Confirmed
During the same panel presentation, Big West officially clarified that the audiovisual catalog for the landmark 1984 animated feature film The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? remains fully integrated into the broader worldwide Macross franchise timeline.
Directed by Shoji Kawamori and Studio Nue, Macross Frontier originally broadcast in 2008 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the legendary mecha franchise. The storyline follows young pilot trainee Alto Saotome and aspiring idol singers Ranka Lee and Sheryl Nome aboard the Macross Frontier emigration fleet as they confront the alien Vajra threat.
