The critically acclaimed historical mystery series Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) is officially returning for its third season on October 2, 2026. Based on the light novel series written by Natsu Hyuuga and published by Imagica Infos under their Hero Bunko imprint, the franchise has surpassed 57 million copies worldwide. Following Maomao, a young apothecary forced to work as a poison taster in the imperial inner court, the series has captivated international audiences with its sharp deductive puzzles, richly textured historical setting, and intricate character dynamics.
Following the broadcast of the first season from October 2023 to March 2024 and the second season running through early 2025, the upcoming third season promises a massive shift in scope. While previous episodes focused heavily on the confined intrigues of the inner court, the narrative now steps out into the wider world, touching on looming national disasters and shifting political landscapes as Jinshi embraces his true lineage.
