The long-awaited anime adaptation of King’s Proposal (Ousama no Propose) has officially broken cover with a 2027 broadcast window and an atmospheric teaser visual. The announcement came directly out of the Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2026 Online event, offering light novel enthusiasts their first major look at the transition to the screen.
The Creative Forces Behind the Magic
Adding immediate prestige to the production, acclaimed voice actress Rie Takahashi has been officially confirmed to voice the supreme mage Saika Kuozaki, reprising a role she previously brought to life in promotional teaser material for the original publications. Published under KADOKAWA’s Fantasia Bunko imprint, the source material is penned by author Koshi Tachibana and illustrated by artist Tsunako—the legendary creative duo behind the massive fantasy franchise Date A Live.
A High-Stakes Fantasy Premise
The narrative kicks off when Mushiki Kuga, an ordinary high school student, crosses paths with Saika Kuozaki—the most powerful mage alive and humanity's sole defense against world-ending annihilation factors. When Saika falls mortally wounded, she transfers her entire body and supreme abilities to Mushiki. Thrust into an elite academy for mages, Mushiki must navigate hidden identities and overwhelming magic to save humanity while impersonating the legendary sorceress.
Since its launch in 2021, the light novel series has steadily expanded its readership, with the ninth main volume slated for release on December 18, 2026, alongside a companion manga adaptation published by Square Enix.
