Director Pete Docter’s acclaimed animated masterpiece Inside Out is returning to Japanese television screens. NTV's popular Friday Roadshow block has scheduled a nationwide broadcast of the Disney and Pixar classic for October 9, 2026, delivering the entire whimsical journey of Riley’s mind in an uncut presentation.
First capturing global acclaim and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, the film explores the inner workings of an 11-year-old girl named Riley. Inside her emotional control center operate five distinct personified feelings: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust. When an unexpected family relocation to San Francisco disrupts Riley's stable world, Joy and Sadness are accidentally jettisoned into the distant archives of her mind, setting off a poignant adventure to restore her happiness.
The Core Emotional Cast
The Japanese language dub features a celebrated roster of voice talent bringing Pixar's iconic personified emotions to life. Yuko Takeuchi leads the cast as the optimistic Joy, alongside Shinobu Otake as the melancholy Sadness, Jiro Sato as the whimsical imaginary friend Bing Bong, Koichi Yamadera's contemporary voice successors, and a stellar supporting ensemble framing Riley’s psychological journey.
As audiences tune in for the special autumn broadcast, fans can experience once again the intricate animation direction spearheaded by Pete Docter and co-director Ronnie del Carmen, complete with Michael Giacchino's evocative musical score.
