Manga creator Yoshihiro Togashi has announced a significant shift in his professional schedule via his official X account, citing ongoing physical and mental health challenges. The announcement has drawn a wave of concern and supportive messages from readers across the globe.
Best known for timeless masterpieces such as YuYu Hakusho and Level E, Togashi continues his defining work on Hunter x Hunter. The legendary adventure follows Gon Freecss as he strives to become a licensed Hunter like his missing father, encountering lifelong companions like Killua Zoldyck, Kurapika, and Leorio along the way.
Refocusing on the Core Manuscript
Addressing his followers directly, Togashi explained his decision to scale back external commitments:
Due to compounding physical and mental health issues, starting with the commissions currently in progress, I have decided to decline all future work requests with strict deadlines to prioritize creating my own manuscripts. Once manuscript production resumes, I will make an announcement here.
The update resonated deeply within the community, with readers urging publishers and industry peers to protect Togashi's health and allow him to focus entirely on his own pace. The acclaimed series previously returned to the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2026 for a ten-chapter run spanning from issue 31 to issue 420, before entering another hiatus. The release window for chapter 421 and beyond remains unannounced.
