Kodansha's supernatural action manga Gyakusatsu Kigen celebrated its first compiled volume release with an atmospheric promotional anime short. First serialized in the pages of Monthly Afternoon in May, the dark seinen series brings together distinctive creative talent to adapt its grim premise for the screen.
The animated teaser was storyboarded by My Happy Marriage director Takehiro Kubota, with key animation provided by Atsushi Ikariya and Keita Shimizu. Additional production credits include background art by Masakazu Miyake and Taichi Maezuka, editing and compositing by Tetsuya Tatamitai, and a musical score composed by Yashikin. Tomari Ippei served as sound and casting director, while original writer Yuichiro Momose—known for his series composition work on Demon Lord 2099 and The Witch and the Beast—stepped in as producer and production assistant.
Illustrated by Shiwasu Hoshikawa, recognized for Bungo Stray Dogs: Stormbringer, Gyakusatsu Kigen centers on a gritty world plagued by horrific crimes executed using supernatural abilities, following the relentless individuals tracking down these extraordinary perpetrators.
