The momentum for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman shows no signs of slowing down. Immediately following the broadcast of its latest episodes, production committees have officially greenlit a third season for the hit fantasy series, treating fans to an early look at what lies ahead.
Continuation Confirmed
The announcement arrived swiftly on the heels of the second season's premiere on Amazon’s Prime Video. Animation studios Passione and Hayabusa Film have been confirmed to return, continuing their collaborative efforts to bring Shigeru Sagazaki’s light novel universe to the screen with consistent visual flair.
Franchise Roots and Production Lineup
Originally serialized on the user-generated Shosetsuka ni Naro website in November 2020, the narrative caught the eye of Square Enix, launching under their SQEX Novel imprint with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. Meanwhile, Kazuki Sato’s manga adaptation continues to run in Akita Shoten's Dokodemo Young Champion.
The core production team behind the adaptation features veteran talent including director Yoshio Kazumi, series composition writer Kunihiko Okada, and character designer Satsuki Hayasaka, alongside composer Yasuhari Takanashi. The stellar voice cast is led by Hiroaki Hirata as the unassuming yet legendary swordsman Beryl Gardinant, supported by Yuki Hirose, Hitomi Ueda, Nao Toyama, and Hinaki Yano.
