Bandai Namco Filmworks has dropped a striking new promotional teaser for the upcoming television adaptation of Kasumi Yasuda's Fool Night manga. The announcement, originally made during Anime NYC, confirmed that Netflix will handle the worldwide distribution, premiering the entire series globally on November 26.
Star-Studded Cast and Crew
The latest promotional push also introduced several key voice actors joining the production. Junya Enoki will step into the role of Akira Yatsuka, accompanied by Aya Endō as Saeko Kanaeno, and Kiyomitsu Mizuuchi portraying Jin Hiragishi. They join previously announced cast members Kōki Uchiyama as Toshiro Kamiya and Minako Kotobuki as Yomiko Horai.
The adaptation is spearheaded by a notable creative collective. Atsuyuki Yukawa, known for his unit direction on Suzume, directs the project through a unique collaboration between Sunrise and SHAFT. The screenwriting is managed by Jin Tanaka, with character designs by Robert Satō and an atmospheric musical score composed by Tatsuya Katō.
A Grim Dystopian Premise
Originally serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior magazine, Kasumi Yasuda's source material takes place in a bleak, oxygen-depleted world where society relies on a grim biological transformation known as transfloration.
Kamiya is at the end of his rope. His mother is ill, and his job barely pays for her medication, much less food. With few options left, he considers the life-changing process of transfloration. Ready to give his body up for a payday, Kamiya is about to explore the limits of society's waning humanity.
Viz Media, English publisher
