The official television anime adaptation of Oreko Tachibana's gripping historical romance manga Firefly Wedding (Hotaru no Yomeiri) has expanded its voice cast. The production team announced that Natsuko Abe has joined the cast to voice Aoi, a gentle-mannered courtesan who acts as a mentor to the protagonist Satoko.
The series premiered on October 9, broadcasting during Fuji TV's prestigious Noitamina programming block. International audiences can follow the broadcast via Crunchyroll, which streams the episodes concurrently alongside an English dub production. The adaptation brings Tachibana's intense narrative of survival and desperate romance to life with high production values.
The voice cast features Lynn starring as Satoko Kirigaya alongside Kōki Uchiyama as the relentless assassin Shinpei Gotō. Additional supporting roles include Kent Itō as Kōtarō Ogawa and Kenjirō Tsuda as Mitsueda. Under the direction of Takahiro Kamei at david production, the series adapts the chilling premise of a terminally ill noblewoman who bargains for her life with a marriage proposal to her would-be killer.
Behind the animation, veteran creators anchor the staff lineup. Character designs are crafted by Yukiko Aikei, while series composition and scripts are managed by Yūko Kakihara. Musical accompaniment is composed by NOGRID, complemented by opening theme song "Period" performed by Iri and ending theme "Yumegokochi" by TOOBOE. Viz Media publishes the original manga in English, and Shogakukan serializes the series via their Manga ONE application.
