Creator Mikito Chinen continues to expand his footprint across Japanese publishing as another of his gripping psychological works makes the leap to sequential art. Mangaka Hiromoto Komatsu officially launched a manga adaptation of Chinen's acclaimed horror novel Etsuran Genkin Ryōki Satsujin-han no Seishin Kantei Hōkoku-sho (Restricted Reading: Psychiatric Evaluation Report of a Bizarre Murderer) on Futabasha's Web Comic Action digital platform.
The narrative centers on doctor Kasumi Uehara as she undertakes the chilling psychiatric evaluation of a serial killer responsible for the brutal murders of eleven individuals in Tokyo. As the doctor peels back the layers of the perpetrator's psyche, she uncovers unsettling truths that question the boundaries of human morality and the psychological abyss hidden within society.
This new serialization joins a wave of recent manga adaptations and projects tied to Chinen's extensive bibliography, which also includes works like Prometheus Taisen and the well-known Ameku Takao's Detective Karte series. Futabasha originally published the source novel in September 2025, quickly establishing the property's potential for visual adaptation.
