Hashimoto initially revealed his diagnosis of sudden sensorineural hearing loss back in April, attributing the medical emergency to severe overwork during the production of his serialized works.
Health Recovery and Ongoing Adjustments
Despite undergoing intensive medical treatments and rehabilitation within the critical window following the onset, Hashimoto confirmed that the condition is irreversible. The sudden auditory loss initially brought severe complications, including debilitating vertigo, nausea, and spatial disorientation. Following months of targeted physical rehabilitation, the creator has successfully regained his balance and motor coordination, allowing him to return to a stable daily routine and consistent desk work.
Emphasizing the connection between excessive strain and his condition, Hashimoto intends to pace his creative output carefully. He plans to maintain healthy lifestyle habits, incorporating regular exercise and strict rest schedules to prevent further health complications.
Resuming Serialized Works
The creator's ongoing manga project, Rappa: Yankee Ninpū Chō, previously experienced publishing adjustments and intermittent hiatuses following the initial May announcement. Originally launched in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in September 2024, the series remains an important title in his portfolio. Alongside his work with writer Shinya Umemura on historical epics such as Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem, Hashimoto continues to balance his demanding artistic career with necessary health safeguards.
