The scientific journey of Dr. STONE is not over yet. Official sources have confirmed that the special epilogue story, titled Terraforming, is officially getting an anime adaptation. Originally published in the 27th and final compiled volume of the manga as a post-main story tale, this upcoming project will animate Senku and his allies' ambitious next venture beyond the main narrative's conclusion.
The Scientific Legacy
While the exact broadcast format—whether a theatrical OVA, special episode, or standalone release—has not been fully clarified, the project announcement coincides with major franchise milestones, including the upcoming Kingdom of Science Museum exhibition scheduled to open at Tokyo's Ikebukuro Sunshine City on December 10.
Created by writer Riichirou Inagaki and artist Boichi, the original manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2017 to 2022. The anime adaptation produced by studio TMS Entertainment originally premiered in 2019 under director Shinya Iino, with Shuhei Matsushita taking over directorial duties for later seasons through the multi-cour television run, Dr. STONE: Science Future.
One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan to kickstart civilization with the power of science.
