Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially announced that their acclaimed training RPG Digimon Story Time Stranger has received an Award of Excellence in the Annual Works Division at the Japan Game Awards 2026, hosted by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association and supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Following its recognition in the Future Division at the 2025 awards, the title achieved a major milestone by becoming the fastest-selling game in the franchise's history, surpassing one million copies shipped globally in just two months following its launch. The team spent roughly eight years meticulously crafting the world and narrative experience to meet fan expectations.
Expanding the Digital World with 2027 DLC
Looking ahead, Bandai Namco has confirmed that a massive downloadable content expansion titled Digimon Story Time Stranger: Legacy of the Heroes is scheduled for release in 2027. Set three years after the main game's narrative climax, the expansion promises fresh adventures, deeper lore interactions between humans and partner monsters, and extended gameplay experiences.
As the newest entry in the Digimon Story sub-series, the game challenges players to solve the mystery behind a collapsing world while journeying across both the human realm and the digital landscape of Iliad. Featuring over 450 collectible monsters to train and deploy in strategic turn-based battles, the title continues to expand its footprint through cross-media campaigns and ongoing community updates.
