October 18 marks Mini-Skirt Day in Japan, commemorating the historic 1967 arrival of British model Twiggy—dubbed the Queen of Minis—to Tokyo. To celebrate the occasion, Japanese pop-culture outlet Anime! Anime! conducted its annual reader survey asking fans to vote for the characters who best pull off the mini-skirt aesthetic. Running from October 2 to October 9, the poll gathered 128 responses from an evenly split demographic of anime enthusiasts.
Securing the crown for the second year in a row is Ran Mouri from Detective Conan, capturing approximately seven percent of the total vote. Fans highlighted the iconic Teitan High School uniform as well as her versatile casual wardrobe, praising how her athletic karate-ka physique complements the tailored silhouettes.
Taking second place is Lilitea from the upcoming 2026 series Mata Korosarete Shimatta no Desu ne, Tantei-sama. Serving as an assistant to the immortal detective Sakuya, her frilly dark navy skirt and asymmetrical socks struck a chord with voters. Meanwhile, the sword-spirit Toshiro Midare from Touken Ranbu ONLINE rounded out the top three, celebrated for bringing both distinct flair and battle-ready charm to the category.
Other notable placements in the top ten included Mitsuri Kanroji from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Rin Tohsaka from Fate/stay night, and Himiko Toga from My Hero Academia. The results demonstrate how fashion choices in anime extend beyond simple aesthetics, helping to define a character's personality, athleticism, or distinctive charm.
