Following a remarkable path across the global streaming landscape, Shingo Yamashita's feature directorial debut Chou Kaguya-hime! continues to expand its immersive universe. Known for his iconic opening sequence direction on acclaimed projects such as Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, Chainsaw Man, and Urusei Yatsura, Yamashita brings his signature visual dynamism to this original Netflix anime feature. To celebrate the upcoming theatrical revival featuring special screening formats like MX4D, 4DX, SCREENX, and Dolby Atmos starting September 18, producers have launched a brand-new special program.
The newly unveiled 'Tsukuyomi Thanksgiving Festival INFO' program offered fans their first glimpse at the virtual reality environment dubbed the 'VR Tsukuyomi World,' recreating the film's fictional cyberspace within VRChat. Alongside a promotional video and key visual showing Kaguya alongside Ayaha Sakayori and Yachiyo Tsukimi standing before a striking torii gate, the broadcast debuted the official 3D character models for both Sakayori and Tsukimi.
The virtual event series allows global audiences to experience live performances by the characters directly on the official YouTube channel and within VRChat. During the premiere broadcast, characters guided viewers through upcoming milestones, including the early September 25 launch of the tutorial area on VRChat. Fans will be able to test their building skills in a dedicated mini-game alongside Yachiyo while learning platform navigation.
Furthermore, the main virtual concert, titled Tsukuyomi Thanksgiving Festival - Extremely Delicious Pancake Party -, is officially scheduled for December 26 at 21:00 JST, broadcasting simultaneously on YouTube and VRChat with subsequent archives planned. As the franchise builds toward its winter celebration, special commemorative merchandise including towels and penlights has been announced to accompany the interactive musical event.
