Franchise Origins and Global Reach
Yukino Sonoyama initially launched the manga in Kodansha's Shonen Magazine Edge in 2022 before transitioning the series to Monthly Shonen Sirius. Kodansha USA Publishing licenses the work in English, summarizing the narrative around identity, beauty, and systemic challenges:
They said Aia was destined to be a model, and Jun was bullied for her freckles. Together, they will take back the power to define themselves in an inspirational fashion manga that asks cutting questions about what it really means to be beautiful—and what it takes to overcome an arbitrary system that seems to respect talent over hard work.
Kodansha USA Publishing
Surpassing 1.25 million copies in circulation, the property is experiencing a massive multimedia expansion. Alongside the upcoming A-1 Pictures anime adaptation, the manga is also inspiring a live-action series slated for global streaming via Amazon Prime Video in spring 2027.
