The climactic confrontation between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach reaches a critical threshold as Studio Pierrot releases preview materials and production credentials for Episode 45 of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War (Part 4, Episode 5). Titled “XXXX”, the upcoming broadcast on Saturday, August 22, pushes the narrative deep into Wahr Welt, where Ichigo taps into his dormant Hollow powers to challenge the Quincy King.
According to the official synopsis published on the official anime website, Ichigo enters a state of partial Hollowfication to unleash a devastating combination attack—a Gran Rey Cero fused directly with a Getsuga Tensho. However, Yhwach's strength remains unshakeable against the blow, forcing Ichigo to confront the limits of his drive to protect others.
The threat of the annihilation of the Three Worlds becomes a reality, as the shadow of destruction spreads across the realms. At Wahr Welt, Ichigo confronts Yhwach and awakens the Hollow power within him, entering a state of partial Hollowfication. He unleashes a Gran Rey Cero fused with the power of Getsuga. Yet even this devastating attack fails to faze Yhwach. As he overwhelms Ichigo, Yhwach confronts him with the weakness of his “power to protect.”
Production Details
Series director Tomohisa Taguchi takes direct creative control over Episode 45, handling the script, storyboard, and episode direction. Animators from Studio KAI have also joined Pierrot's visual team to deliver the high-stakes battle sequences.
