Bandai Namco Filmworks has released the first teaser promotional video for the television anime adaptation of Shikiso Utsuzawa's fantasy light novel series Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For!. The newly revealed footage confirms a January 2027 premiere date alongside key additions to the production staff.
The animated adaptation will star Masumi Tazawa as the wrongfully accused protagonist Elian, alongside Taku Yashiro as Nigel. Behind the camera, Tsukasa Sakurai is directing the project at animation studio Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab. The production team also features Naoki Tozuka managing series composition and scripts, with character designs handled by Naru Nishikōri. Musical composition is helmed by Kanako Hara.
Utsuzawa initially launched the narrative on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō web novel platform in June 2020. Kodansha later began publishing the print editions featuring illustrations by Pukyunosuke, while Mokuba Matsu's manga adaptation debuted in Kodansha's Palcy application. Kodansha USA Publishing handles the English-language distribution of both the original manga and digital editions.
Ever since she was a child, Eliane has been the saint and protector of the Kingdom of Belkheim, warding off monsters and ensuring bountiful harvests with her prayers. But when a pretender saint beguiles the foolish prince—to whom she is engaged—into believing she is nothing but a fraud, he calls off the marriage and banishes her from the kingdom.
