Miyakokasiwa and Saizō Harawata's strategic death-game series Battle in 5 Seconds (Deatte 5-byō de Battle) has officially returned to serialization. The manga resumed publication on Shogakukan's digital platforms following a hiatus taken due to artist Miyakokasiwa managing ongoing health concerns.
Production Background and Hiatus
The series previously went on hiatus after artist Miyakokasiwa experienced health and personal difficulties. Serialization paused following a chapter release in June, with the author formally addressing the break in August. Having navigated intermittent health-related interruptions since early 2024, the creative team has worked toward bringing the narrative closer to its planned conclusion, with Shogakukan releasing the 31st compiled volume last July.

Armed with his newfound, special ability, Akira becomes determined to take down this sinister group and beat their game. He has to rely on his guile to overcome all sorts of obstacles in a captivating battle of wits!
Comikey, English Publisher
Originally conceived by Harawata as web fiction, the property evolved when Miyakokasiwa launched an illustrated remake in Shogakukan's Ura Sunday web comic service and the Manga ONE application. The psychological battle premise later inspired a television anime adaptation in 2021, with international distribution and English voice acting handled by Crunchyroll.
