The literary fantasy phenomenon Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujō: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan o Erande Iraremasen) is officially continuing its ambitious screen adaptation. Following the emotional conclusion of the latest television broadcast arc, producers have confirmed that the next major narrative milestone—the Kizokuin no Jishō Toshoshii (Self-Proclaimed Library Committee Member) arc, covering the pivotal Royal Academy phase—is officially in production.
Animation powerhouse WIT STUDIO, which took over the reins for the adopted daughter storyline, will return to helm the production. The franchise, originating from Miya Kazuki's light novel series published by TO Books with illustrations by You Shiina, has crossed a staggering 14 million copies in cumulative circulation. The story follows a book-obsessed college student reincarnated as a sickly young commoner named Myne, whose relentless quest to read and manufacture books in a medieval, class-stratified society continually upends the political landscape.
Entering the Royal Academy
The announcement arrives hot on the heels of the recent broadcast finale, which saw the protagonist—now living as Rozemyne, the adopted daughter of the Ehrenfest archduke—stepping through a transfer gate toward the prestigious Royal Academy with the parting words, "Well then, I'm setting off." This seamless narrative bridge sets up a grander scale of political intrigue, divine magic, and unbridled bibliophile obsession as Rozemyne navigates the aristocratic academy.
