The upcoming dark fantasy adaptation Akairo no Kamen has officially locked in its broadcast premiere for October 10, 2026. Running for split-2-cours on the Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV nationwide networks in the Saturday 5:30 PM time slot, the project promises a striking visual direction spearheaded by director Toshiaki Watanabe, whose previous credits include Blue Lock and Tatsuki Fujimoto's short adaptations.
Based on the manga serialized in Shonengahosha's Young King Ours by creator Dr.Poro and illustrator Nabana Nabana, the narrative follows Pel, an apprentice mask craftsman burdened by a tragic past. Manipulated by an immensely powerful artifact, Pel inadvertently destroyed his mentor and comrades. Now, he embarks on a grim journey across the world to shatter every remaining relic left behind by his master, encountering fierce adversaries and steadfast allies along the way.
Theme Songs and Star-Studded Cast
Alongside the second promotional video, producers confirmed the musical lineup driving the series. Rock band MAN WITH A MISSION provides the opening theme "Firestarter," while yutori performs the ending theme "Voice." Furthermore, an extensive wave of additional voice talent has joined the roster, featuring Kenjiro Nojima as Hien, Aoi Koga as Las Girl, Yuuki Shin as Crown, Akihisa Wakayama as Rinne, Aya Endo as the Spirit Mask, and Yui Horie as the enigmatic Master.
