Takeshi Konomi’s enduring tennis saga is approaching its final set point. Publisher Shueisha has confirmed that The New Prince of Tennis (Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama) will publish its 48th and final compiled volume on September 4, 2026. The milestone release marks the official conclusion of a narrative journey that began 27 years ago with the original series debut in 1999.
A 27-Year Legacy
Following the conclusion of the original The Prince of Tennis serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump, which ran from 1999 to 2008, Konomi launched The New Prince of Tennis in Jump SQ. in 2009. The sequel expanded the scope of Ryoma Echizen's journey onto the international stage, featuring high-stakes tournament arcs against top youth players from around the world and signature theatrical tennis techniques.
Across nearly three decades, the franchise has evolved into a massive multimedia project encompassing multiple television anime series, feature films, stage musicals, and video games. To mark the final volume's release, retail chain Animate will run a nationwide celebratory event from September 4 through September 30, 2026, offering six reversible visual boards capturing key moments from the series alongside special character displays at flagship stores in Ikebukuro and Umeda.
