TOHO animation has released a fresh promotional trailer for the third season of The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto), confirming an October 2, 2026 premiere date. The historical drama will broadcast across NTV and 29 affiliated channels during the Friday Anime Night programming block, running for two split cours with the second half scheduled to debut in April 2027.
Theme Songs and New Cast Members
Alongside the broadcast confirmation, the production unveiled the musical lineup for the upcoming season. Musical unit yorushika will perform the opening theme song titled "Kumo o Nukekazashimo e Watashidake" (I Am Alone, Breaking Through the Clouds Downwind), while singer Eve handles the ending theme song "AIYOU." Additionally, voice actress Reina Ueda joins the ensemble cast as Bai Niangniang, a pale and mysterious nymph inhabiting the palace grounds.
Expanding Franchise Horizons
The continued adaptation of Hyuganatsu and Touko Shino's light novel series extends far beyond the television broadcast. An original theatrical film titled Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bōhi no Hihō (The Apothecary Diaries: The Deceased Empress' Treasure) is set to open in theaters on December 11, featuring an entirely original storyline penned by Hyuganatsu. Furthermore, an international live-action series adaptation produced for Amazon Prime Video is slated for a worldwide release in 2028.
In the East is a land ruled by an emperor, whose consorts and serving women live in a sprawling complex known as the hougong, the rear palace.
