The ambitious Afro-futurist sci-fi adventure anime project Sentinel 6 is officially moving forward with Kyoto-based background art studio Creative Freaks leading production. Announced via The Hollywood Reporter, the series brings together an eclectic creative roster, including former NBA player Michael Carter-Williams and NFL player Jamaal Williams as executive producers.
While Creative Freaks is best known for providing intricate background art on industry heavyweights like Spy×Family and Chainsaw Man, this production marks the company's major step into full-scale animation leadership following the expansion of its animation division in 2023. The studio won the bid after the project was shopped to dozens of production houses. Veteran creator LeSean Thomas (Yasuke, The Boondocks) penned the pilot and serves as a consulting producer, bringing significant creative weight to the adaptation.
