The official social media channels for the television anime adaptation of Yuri Kitayama and Riv's light novel series Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles have announced that the fantasy adventure will officially return for a third season.
The first season of the adaptation, produced at TMS Entertainment, premiered in July 2021, followed by a second season directed by Hiroshi Kubo under the supervision of first-season director Osamu Yamasaki in October 2024. The production featured screenplays by Yamasaki alongside Mitsutaka Hirota, Megumu Sasano, and Yoshiko Nakamura, with Kyoko Yufu handling character designs.
Reincarnation and Royal Intrigue
Originating on the self-publishing platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2014 before being acquired by Hobby Japan with illustrations by Riv in 2015, the series follows the dual-identity journey of its protagonist:
Meet Rio: a callous orphaned boy living in the slums. At only 7-years-old, he realizes he's actually the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student with a tragic past. While still reeling from this shocking epiphany, Rio also comes to learn that he possesses extremely potent magical abilities and uses his new powers to solve the kidnapping case of a little girl. His good deed is acknowledged, and he's rewarded by being enrolled into… a prestigious academy for noble children...?
