The global dominance of Korean webtoons takes center stage in Southern California this fall. The Korean Culture Center Los Angeles, operating in partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), has announced a sweeping immersive showcase dedicated to the modern digital manhwa phenomenon. Scheduled to run from September 11 through October 17, the exhibition bridges the gap between digital scrolling and physical world-building.
Titled the 2026 K-Comics Origin Los Angeles – Korean Webtoon Experience Exhibition, the showcase centers around three modern pillars of the medium: Solo Leveling, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, and All of Us Are Dead. Rather than traditional flat displays, the gallery will reconstruct iconic environments and character installations, offering visitors tangible access to universes that typically exist behind glass screens.
Cross-Media Expansion
Beyond celebrating the source material, the exhibition highlights how modern webtoon intellectual properties successfully transition into multimedia empires. Interactive kiosks will demonstrate the iterative pipeline that turns vertical-scroll manhwa chapters into high-budget live-action streaming series, animated adaptations, and interactive gaming experiences.
The opening day festivities on September 11 will feature a special masterclass and Q&A session with Dong-geun Joo, the creative mind behind the zombie survival thriller All of Us Are Dead. Joo will discuss the rigorous creative journey of serializing a breakout webtoon and navigating its transition into a globally recognized Netflix adaptation.
Accessibility and Publications
Hosted within the second-floor Art Gallery of the Korean Culture Center Los Angeles, the exhibition is entirely free to the public. For enthusiasts looking to dive into the source material ahead of the event, English digital serialization is widely accessible. All of Us Are Dead and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint are available on WEBTOON, while Solo Leveling is hosted on Tapas.
Physical collectors are equally supported through North American publishing initiatives. Ize Press handles print editions for both the Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint webtoon and novel series, alongside the Solo Leveling webtoon. Meanwhile, Yen Press via its Yen On imprint distributes the print novel editions for Solo Leveling, solidifying the permanent library presence of these contemporary franchises.
