Enlisting iconic voice talent to reimagine Masamune Shirow's seminal cyberpunk universe, the official team behind the new Ghost in the Shell (Koukaku Kidoutai) television anime has confirmed two major cast additions. Veteran voice actors Kikuko Inoue and Shigeru Chiba have officially joined the production, stepping into the crucial roles of Project 2501 (the Puppet Master) and Foreign Ministry official Nakamura, respectively.
Creative Leadership
The upcoming series marks a high-profile undertaking for studio Science SARU. Director Moko-chan, who previously served as assistant director on Dandadan, leads the project. Cyberpunk novelist and sci-fi specialist Toh EnJoe (Godzilla: S.P) oversees series composition and scriptwriting, bringing analytical rigor to the legendary franchise. Character designs are crafted by Shuuhei Handa (Little Witch Academia), while a musical team composed of Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and Yuki Kanesaka handles the soundscape.
This fresh entry follows late 2023's theatrical compilation Koukaku Kidoutai: SAC_2045 - Saigo no Ningen, which concluded the 3DCG era of the property. With a distinct creative direction and casting roots anchored in industry royalty, this iteration promises a bold new vision of Section 9's philosophical battles.
