Following a five-year hiatus after the conclusion of its second run in spring 2021, the ecchi fantasy series How Not to Summon a Demon Lord (Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu) has officially greenlit Season 3. Alongside the announcement, production partners revealed a brand-new visual highlighting the franchise's return.
Return of the Demon Lord
Originating as a light novel series authored by Yukiya Murasaki with illustrations by Takahiro Tsurusaki, the story follows socially anxious MMO savant Takuma Sakamoto. Summoned into the realm of his favorite fantasy title Cross Reverie in the form of his in-game avatar Demon Lord Diablo, Takuma immediately turns the tables on summoners Shera L. Greenwood and Rem Galeu through a magic-reflecting ring, binding both heroines into his servitude instead.
The television adaptation originally premiered in 2018 under studio Ajia-do Animation Works before animation duties shifted to Tezuka Productions and Okuruto Noboru for Season 2, titled How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω, in 2021. Further scheduling details, confirmed broadcast windows, and returning staff rosters for the third season are expected in upcoming announcements.
