The acclaimed psychological horror and rural mystery anime Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer Hikaru Died), produced by CygamesPictures, is significantly expanding its streaming footprint. Following its initial broadcast run on Nippon TV and its concurrent availability on Netflix and ABEMA, the series is arriving on a wide array of new platforms starting November 6, 2026.
Directed by Ryohei Takeshita, the 12-episode adaptation of Mokumokuren's breakout manga has captivated audiences with its unsettling atmosphere, depicting the chilling bond between a young boy named Yoshiki and the entity that has replaced his childhood friend, Hikaru. While viewers could previously catch the series exclusively through select providers, the upcoming expansion brings the complete first season to Disney+, U-NEXT, Amazon Prime Video, and several other major subscription services.
