The campaign for the second entry in the Haikyu!! Final film project has officially begun. Production I.G and the anime's staff have released a teaser trailer alongside brand-new promotional visuals for Gekijōban Haikyū!! VS Chiisana Kyojin (Haikyu!! Vs. The Little Giant) and its accompanying theatrical short anime special, Haikyū!! Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro (Where Monsters Go).

The companion short, Haikyū!! Bakemono-tachi no Iku Tokoro, focuses on the high-stakes national tournament clash between Fukurōdani Academy and Mujinazaka High School. Designed as a theatrical double feature, the special will screen alongside VS Chiisana Kyojin when the sequel feature opens in Japanese theaters next year.

Staff and Franchise Background

Director and screenwriter Susumu Mitsunaka, who helmed both the original television series and HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, returns to write and direct the second feature film at Production I.G. The upcoming movie serves as the direct continuation to The Dumpster Battle, which earned over 2.23 billion yen (approximately $14.12 million USD) during its three-day opening weekend in Japan before securing a global theatrical release through Crunchyroll.

Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High's volleyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the “Little Giant.” But, Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” the long-awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?

Crunchyroll Synopsis for Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle

First announced in August 2022 as a two-part cinematic finale, the Haikyu!! Final project aims to adapt the concluding story arcs of Haruichi Furudate's original volleyball manga for the big screen.
