Following the energetic conclusion of its recent broadcast, Grand Blue Season 4 has been officially announced for production. The abrupt confirmation brings immediate relief to fans of the chaotic diving-and-drinking comedy, ensuring that the misadventures of Iori Kitahara and the Peekaboo Diving Society will continue on screen.
Production Team Returns
Director Shinji Takamatsu is confirmed to return, retaining his multi-faceted role overseeing the direction, scripts, and sound direction. Animation studios ZERO-G and Liber will once again spearhead the production. They are joined by returning creative talent, including character designer and chief animation director Hideoki Kusama, art director Reiko Kasuga, and composer Yukari Hashimoto.
The central voice cast is also slated to reprise their roles, featuring Yuma Uchida as the perpetually exploited protagonist Iori Kitahara, Ryohei Kimura as Kohei Imamura, and Chika Anzai as Chisa Kotegawa.
Originating from the manga written by Kenji Inoue and illustrated by Kimitake Yoshioka, Grand Blue Dreaming began serialization in Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine in April 2014. The narrative centers on Iori, a college freshman whose dream of a peaceful coastal life is immediately hijacked by a wild, fraternity-like diving club characterized by heavy drinking and endless antics.
