The upcoming anime film adaptation of Akiko Abe’s acclaimed youth drama novel Doko yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e has released a comprehensive suite of seven character promotional videos. Originally serialized through Shueisha Orange Bunko and gaining significant traction across social media platforms like TikTok, the story blends adolescent emotional turbulence with time-bending mystery against a backdrop of striking natural beauty.

Animation production is anchored by TMS Entertainment, bringing together a seasoned creative team. Directing the project is Junichi Wada, known for his work on the HIGH CARD series. The screenplay is penned by Sayaka Kuwamura, whose portfolio includes celebrated romance narratives such as Strobe Edge and Josee, the Tiger and the Fish. Character designs and chief animation direction are handled by Hechima, a talented illustrator recognized for Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase and character contributions to Cho Kaguya-hime!.
Set on the isolated, lush island of Saikijima, the narrative centers around Kazuki Tsukigase, a teenager who relocates from the city and discovers a mysterious girl named Nanao Akika collapsed near a local landmark known as the 'Spirit-Away Cove'. Claiming to have arrived from the year 1974, Nanao’s sudden appearance sets off an intricate web of secrets, unspoken regrets, and changing futures.
