The box office-conquering Detective Pretty Cure The Movie: Mysterious Garden and Two Secrets has officially shared its vibrant opening sequence online. Following its September 18 theatrical debut, the film shattered franchise records by pulling in an exceptional 1.24 billion yen, claiming the highest single-movie box office gross in the history of the legendary magical girl franchise.
The feature film is spun off from Detective Pretty Cure!, the twenty-third overarching installment in Toei Animation’s enduring magical girl institution. The narrative kicks off when protagonist Anna Akechi—celebrating her birthday in the year 2027—encounters a fairy named Pochitan and is whisked away by a mysterious light into 1999. Teaming up with fellow aspiring detective Mikuru Kobayashi and the self-proclaimed genius inventor Jet-senpai, Anna establishes the Cure-at Detective Agency to recover clients' prized possessions from the Phantom Thief Syndicate, transforming into Detective Pretty Cure to untangle labyrinthine mysteries.
Set to the familiar TV theme song "Heart ni Hint! Detective Pretty Cure!," the newly revealed opening video highlights spectacular transformations and action sequences featuring Cure Answer, Cure Mystic, Cure Eclair, and Cure Arcana. The footage also treats audiences to crossover appearances from characters originating in Kimisaka: Idol Pretty Cure! and Wonderful Pretty Cure!, heightening the scale of the cinematic escapade.
Alongside the opening footage, Toei unveiled four brand-new scene cuts showcasing the ensemble cast in motion, alongside a glimpse of the original movie-exclusive character Rain. To maintain momentum in theaters, distributor Toei announced a limited-run seventh week attendee bonus starting October 3. Moviegoers will receive the exclusive "Detective ★ Future Card," featuring original illustrations of the four main heroines in their Future Form drawn specifically by director Hanako Ueda.
