The upcoming anime film Date A Live F Last Date is scheduled to hit Japanese theaters on March 26, 2027. The release date was officially announced during the Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai 2026 Online livestream event, accompanied by a new teaser visual illustrating the main tone for the next theatrical entry.
Adapted from the light novel series written by Koshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, the franchise continues the story of Shido Itsuka and his unique mission to neutralize destructive Spirits through romance.
April 10. The first day of school. Shido Itsuka is rudely awoken by his personal alarm clock—his little sister. It’s shaping up to be another typical day… well, as typical as it gets on a planet plagued by massive spatial quakes. Little does Shido know, however, his life is about to take a sudden turn when he encounters the source of this destructive phenomenon—a girl his age, apparently known as a Spirit. Turns out, there are only two ways he can stop her from unleashing hell on the world: Eliminate her by force or placate her… by taking her out on a date and making her fall in love with him!
New Animation Studio
The production staff introduces significant shifts for this theatrical release. Director Junji Nishimura (The Fire Hunter, Vlad Love) will lead the production at animation studio Fugaku. Scriptwriter Fumihiko Shimo and character designer Naoto Nakamura return from previous television seasons to maintain creative continuity.
Since debuting in 2013, the animated adaptation has spanned five television seasons produced across studios AIC PLUS+, Production IMS, J.C.STAFF, and GEEKTOYS, alongside the spin-off project Date A Bullet.
