Boutique streaming service Darkroom has added the 1996 two-part original anime video (OVA) adaptation of Angel Densetsu to its digital catalog. Based on the celebrated manga by Norihiro Yagi—who later created the dark fantasy epic Claymore—the classic anime originally debuted in September 1996 and has long been regarded as a defining entry in school misunderstanding comedies.
The story follows Seiichiro Kitano, a high school transfer student whose demonic facial features, pale complexion, and intense gaze lead classmates and faculty to instantly brand him a vicious delinquent. In truth, Kitano is a kind-hearted, gentle boy who simply wants to make friends. His polite actions are constantly misinterpreted as brutal psychological intimidation or gang warfare tactics, leading him to unintentionally dethrone local fighters and gain a legendary reputation as Hekikuu High School's supreme ruler.
Upon transferring to Hekikuu High School, Kitano soon discovers that his pale skin, sharp features, and awkward social skills make everyone assume he is a vicious delinquent... The comedic situations intensify as he tries to reconcile his fierce erroneous reputation with his true self.
